| April 2007: Hindpool park is due to open in May 2007. At the main entrance on Duke Street, is a 4.5m x 4.5m pebble mosaic, depicting the history of Hindpool & Barrow. At the Blake Street entrance is the 11m x 11m labyrinth. Designed with sea creatures and a treasure island from drawings by local children. Barrow grew and prospered partly because of the rich iron ore deposits. The labyrinth takes in concentric circular shape from the model of an iron atom, with the 26 orbitting electrons each holding a sea creature. The labyrinth has been designed for numerous children's games, including games of tig, matching pairs and finding the odd one out. The creatures eyes are LEDs which light up at night.
